Inspiring Creative Minds
The Travis Studio Art Department will utilize Association funds to attain higher quality supplies for each individual student and to provide art related college scholarship and summer institute opportunities. In addition to enhancing Travis Student's Art enrichment, funds will also be allocated to general maintenance and purchase of technology equipment within the Art Department.
The Band Department will utilize Association funds to 1) provide master class lessons where the private teacher gives lessons to a group of students, 2) afford to pay for a color guard instructor to start a Travis Color Guard group, 3) offset truck rental costs by purchasing a dedicated Penske truck for hauling all musical equipment to off-site events and 4) replace the current 15-yr old battery line (poor condition) with a new Travis battery line (4 snare drums, 2 tenor drums and 5 bass drums all with carriers, covers and cases).
The main objective for the choir is to work on getting group and individual instruction. The biggest hurdle and gap for our students is that they do not have private lessons like most other schools. Differentiated instruction is essential, especially because a lot of these kids have no prior experience. In addition to private instructional opportunities, the choir department would utilize your association donations for uniforms and music for us to use in competition.

The Travis High School Theatre program is designed to encompass the areas of: acting, reading and writing scripts, directing, and critical response. There are opportunities to participate in ensemble productions both within and outside of the school day. Students who participate in drama build a broad base of content knowledge and skills. The comprehensive study of drama includes history, performance and skills. These skills include critical and creative thinking, problem solving, communication, individual and collaborative planning and implementation, historical and cultural understanding, and self- and social-awareness and confidence.
The study of theatre is integral to the education of every individual. I am working to build a competitive theatre program that allows my students the chance to experience things they have never experienced before. Monies given to the theatre program will help us purchase costumes, scenery, Broadway DVD collections, special lighting instruments, makeup and opportunities for kids to attend live theatrical productions. Together we can make Travis the great place for theatre that I know it can be.
